The following individuals exemplify the quality of instructors at the 2004 Preacher Training Camp. The 2005 instructors will be updated upon confirmation.

Instructors and Staff

Instructors:

Walter Buchanan – Walter was born in Paragould, Arkansas. He graduated from Freed-Hardeman and Harding Colleges. Currently Walter conducts gospel meetings and preaches at Italy, Texas when not holding a meeting. He has been preaching for over 40 years.

Jack Evans – Jack is a native of Houston, Texas. He began preaching at the age of sixteen. He has a B.A. in History and Religion and a M.A. in History and English. He has had conferred upon him the Doctor of Laws (LL.D) degrees by Harding University, Pepperdine University, and Abilene Christian University. He has served as dean of Southwestern Christian College. He was appointed President of Southwestern Christian College in 1967 and serves in that capacity presently. He is listed in Who's Who in American College and University Administration and Who's Who in Texas Today. He has served on the Board of Directors of David Lipscomb University. He has spoken on all the major lectureships of Christian colleges and in special seminars and meetings on other college campuses. He conducts gospel meetings and crusades in churches of Christ throughout the nation, and has participated in a number of religious debates. He has authored and edited many books. Jack is married to the former Patricia Officer of Nashville, Tennessee. They have three sons: Jack, Jr., Herbert Raye, and David Paul. They also have four grandchildren.

Charles Hodge – Charles was born on the banks of Onion Creek at Byrd, Texas. He holds a B.A. from Abilene Christian University and a M.A. from Harding University. Charles. Charles has been preaching for over 40 years. He has authored over 20 books including; Amazing Grace, Angels, Prayer, Will God Run?, and Daily Walk with God. He also writes for the Gospel Advocate. He is married to Helen Hodge and they have four children and ten grandchildren.

Stafford North – Stafford is currently a professor of Bible at Oklahoma Christian University and has taught at the University since 1952. For 38 of those years, he served in the administration at Oklahoma Christian being Executive Vice President for twenty years. Since 1994 he has been teaching full-time in the College of Biblical Studies. For his work in education, Dr. North was elected to the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 1997. He has been preaching among churches of Christ since 1948. He has spoken on numerous lectureships, seminars, and teacher training programs and has preached in churches of Christ throughout the United States and foreign countries. Dr. North received his bachelor's degree from Abilene Christian, master's from Louisiana State University, and doctorate from the University of Florida. He has written a number of books, tracts, and educational materials and writes for the Christian Chronicle, Gospel Advocate, and Power for Today. He appears each week on a radio program giving answers to Bible questions. Stafford is married to Jo Anne North who has been active in teaching children and women and in prison ministry. They have four children and ten grandchildren.

Wayne Roberts – Wayne serves as the pulpit minister for the Church of Christ in Parker, Colorado and is on the adjunct staff of the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver. He is a lecturer, author and former co-host of the “Get Real” radio program. He has served as a deacon in the area of communications, a Bible class teacher and director of Vacation Bible School. He holds a Bachelor of Biblical Studies degree from the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver and has done undergraduate work at Oklahoma Christian University and the Kansas City School of Biblical Studies. He is currently working on his Master's Degree. He and his partner Dean Murphy have designed the Spiritual Wellness study series and conduct the accompanying seminars at congregations throughout the United States. Wayne and his wife Tami have five children.

Harold TaylorHarold received his college education at David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. He received a Doctor of Christian Ministry from Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver for Exemplary Leadership in evangelism in July of 2000. For fifteen years he was under the West Erwin Church of Christ in Tyler, Texas conducting Church Growth/Leadership/Evangelism Seminars – as well as Spiritual growth seminars and gospel meetings. He has preached in thirty-six states and fifteen foreign countries. He has spoken at several Christian universities. He is the former editor of Christian Family Magazine and has authored two books: a book on personal work entitled “Person to Person” and a recent book on elders entitled “Holy Spirit Elders: God's Way to a Dynamic Church.” Harold currently serves as the pulpit minister for the Lewisville Church of Christ. Harold and his wife, Betty, are the parents of three married children and have seven grandchildren.

Staff:

Johnie Fredman – Johnie is serving as the university outreach minister for the Southwest church of Christ in Ada, Oklahoma.  He has a master's degree in counseling from the University of Oklahoma, and worked as a full-time therapist and also as a police officer in Norman, Oklahoma, prior to his current position.  He continues to work with various camps and organizations as a hypnotist in addition to his duties as campus minister.

Phillip Johnson – Phillip is the associate minister at the Mannford church of Christ in Mannford, Oklahoma.  He has worked with the Lord's church in Mannford for six years.  He serves as youth and family minister and outreach minister.  He has spoken at many youth rallies and camp sessions. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Science Education from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master's degree in Curriculum Development & Instruction from Oklahoma State University.  He worked as an educator and administrator in Oklahoma public schools for six years before entering ministry full time. Phillip has been married to Shannon Johnson for 10 years, and they have been blessed with a beautiful girl, Jalen Rae Johnson, who is nearly 2 years old.

Kevin Langford – Kevin has served as an associate minister for over five years. He has spoken and led singing at many youth rallies and camps. He is a graduate of Oklahoma Christian with a B.S. degree in Organizational Management and a degree in vocational ministry. He is serving the Keller Church of Christ in Keller, Texas as the associate minister. Kevin is married to Susan Langford.

Steven Minor – Steve is a graduate of Oklahoma Christian University with a B.A. in Bible. He has spoken at many youth rallies, retreats and camps. He has served as a youth and family minister for the past six years and is currently serving the Southwest Church of Christ in Ada, Oklahoma. Steve is married to Stephani and they have three beautiful children, Micah – 5, Mason – 3 and Makenna – 10 months.

Steve Schinnerer – Steve currently preaches for the church of Christ in Porter, Oklahoma. He graduated from the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver with a Bachelors of Theology degree. He has taught and counseled at several church camps for the past nine years. He has done mission work in six foreign countries and five states. He originally gained experience working with youth and young adults at the South Yukon church of Christ in Yukon, Oklahoma. He and his wife Jennifer have two sons and one daughter.

Director:

Tony HallTony has been working in family ministry for over ten years. He attended York Christian College, Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma Christian University. He spent his time studying in the fields of family relations and psychology. He has spoken at many youth rallies, college retreats and gospel meetings, and has conducted many family ministry seminars. He has directed Reach Week for the past 8 years. Reach Week is a church camp of 250 young people and staff. Tony has been married to Jill for 11 years. They have been blessed with two daughters, Jamie, who is 3 years old and Taylor who was born Jan. 6, 2004. Tony currently serves as the Youth and Family minister for the Lewisville church of Christ.

Although these men have a tremendous amount of credentials as preachers, authors, and lecturers, it is their commitment and passion for preaching the Word of God that has caused us to solicit their participation and instruction in this camp.
